Matheline Perry's Obituary
Mrs. Matheline Perry, age 92, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 11. She was born on July 5, 1924 to Claude and Emma (Casey) Rowe in Light, Arkansas. Matheline met and married Ora Perry in Light on June 14, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 2001. In 1947, Ora and Matheline moved to the area and raised their two children, Rebecca and Jerry. Matheline worked as an upholstery seamstress at Shaw Walker for 22 years before retiring in 1986. Matheline greatly enjoyed spending time in her flower beds, gardening. She was extremely family-oriented and was very involved in her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives. “Gramma Cookie” loved to cook and bake for others and had an insatiable sweet-tooth. She will be dearly missed by her children, Rebecca (Douglas) Platt and Jerry (Susan) Perry; grandchildren, Mark (Vicki) Platt, Shannon (Steve) Banchero, Jeff Perry, Steve Perry, and Elizabeth (Jeff) Nunnery; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. A Celebration of Life to visit with the family will be held on Tuesday, May 16 from 11am-12noon at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565.
