Mr. Mathew Burich's Obituary
Mr. Mathew Burich, age 89, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 in Muskegon, MI. He was born February 10, 1923 to Frank and Pauline (Herlevich) Burich in Dodgeville, MI. Mr. Burich was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII proudly serving his country primarily in the Middle East and North Africa. On June 21, 1947 he married the love of his life, Sophie Pavlich, in Houghton, MI and they enjoyed 56 years together. Prior to his retirement in 1986, Mathew worked for Burroughs Corporation in Holland, Ohio as a warehouse distribution center supervisor. Mathew was an avid Detroit Tiger’s fan, enjoyed playing cards, reading, and woodworking. He was a man of integrity, kind and gentle, loved by all who knew him, and he will be missed. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Paul) Zimmerman and Kristina (Kent) Kiley; grandchildren, Pamela (Wayne) Bennett, Ronald (Sally) Blaszczyk, Ryan (Christyn) Kiley and Kellen (Mary) Kiley; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Brooke Blaszczyk, and Peyton Kiley; brother George Burich; sister Pauline Jackovich; sister-in-laws, Florence Burich and Agnes Erlandson; and many nieces and nephews. Mathew was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sophie; brothers, Steve and Frank; and sisters, Francis Starin, Mary Pintar and Anne Starin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Houghton, MI in the spring.
