Well Matt, it's been over a month since you left. I think of you every day. I miss you more than I can describe. Life goes on but it sure is not as happy as it was with you in my life. You had such an impact on me - I sometimes am incredulous that in such a short time you changed my life. I went to mass and felt your presence. How I miss talking with you and just spending time with you, sweet wonderful Matt.

I was fortunate enough to meet my great-uncle Matt at least once when my "Papa" Fred was about to leave this earthly plane.
Having such a large family makes it difficult to really get to know all the people that one individual can be connected to, but meeting one another (even for a short period of time) strenghtens that connection.
I am very happy and fortunate that I was able to make our familial bond at least a little stronger before he passed.

This is a message for my brother Matt. All of my life my parents put you up as a standard for which I should strive. I learned many lessons from you. Some which you didn't intend for me to learn. In the past few years, our roles have changed, from older brother to someone who counted on me to provide care and counsel. Sometimes I would complain that you wanted too much, but in reality, I was honored that you would look to me as a refuse to help you in your times of need. I will miss you. I am sad that we will not be able to discuss politics and all the things that are on your mind. It is only in your passing that I realize that I was the one that needed you instead of the other way around. I hope you thought of me as good and loyal brother. Any success in my business and personal life, I owe to you as you were the person that I always looked up to and strived to emulate. I loved you as all the people you have touch did. I don't need to tell everyone that Matt was a great man. I do however, want to thank him for helping shape me into the person I am today. Having Matt around as I grew up working at the club was a wonderful gift. I won't forget how nice he was to me for all those years. I won't forget his dedication and his service. I won't forget the Saturday morning coffee round tables, and I certainly won't forget his laugh. I pray with his family and will hold onto those memories forever.

I will miss my Uncle Matt aka "Guido". His smile and storytelling always amused me. Loved to hear my dad and Uncle Matt talk about their past antics as children, will as adults too.
Uncle Matt's passion for sailing was equal only to my father's. I hope that I can have the same passion for family, life, and sailing - what am I saying, I am a Young.
