Mattie L. Burns' Obituary
Mrs. Mattie Louise Burns, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Born October 29, 1921 in Lula, MS to Ben Willie and Leola (Parnell) Fleming, she had lived in Muskegon since 1950. Mattie was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church and had been a volunteer in the Food Pantry there. She had been employed as a cook at Tony’s Fine Dining for many years. HER SURVIVORS include her sons: Ernest, James (Rita), Rufus, Frederick, and Paul; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Melvin Fleming, Merrion Fleming and Sherwood Fleming; and a sister Mildred Lott. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles Burns; daughters Beverly and Joyce McCrae; a brother Willie Fleming; and sisters Eddie Holt, Bennie Smith and Ethel Fleming. THE FUNERAL SERVICE for Mrs. Burns will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Terrace St., with Rev. David Sieplinga officiating and interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be an hour prior to the service, 10-11 A.M. Friday at the Church.
