Mavis Ann Thill's Obituary
Mavis Ann Thill, devoted wife, an incredible mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on, November 6, 2017 at the age of 90. Mavis entered this world in a unique way as she was born in a lighthouse which her father tended in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Perhaps that is why she is most known for her illuminating personality and her ability to always see the bright side of things no matter what the circumstances.
Mavis grew up in Twin Lake, Michigan. She met and married the love of her life, Daniel John Thill, at the age of 20 who, as the story goes, she was in love with ever since the eighth grade. Together they raised a family, traveled the world and taught their children to live life to the fullest by example. They remained devoted and loving throughout their 70 year marriage together. Mavis gave birth to four children, but sadly, two of her boys (Jeffrey and Spencer) she lost during their childhood. She is survived by her husband, Dan; her brother, Bob Sterritt (Shirley); her sister, Beverly England; her son, Tim Thill (Rita) and daughter, Lindy Ihrman (David) along with four grandchildren, Abbie Thill, LeeAnn Bragg (Chris), Dani Bearss (Jordan) and Tyler Rewitzer as well as two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Oliver Bragg.
Along with traveling around the globe with Dan and sharing time with her family, Mavis also enjoyed volunteering her time in Service League, the Easter Seal Society, Mercy Hospital and the Miss Michigan Program. Mavis will be best remembered for her bright smile, contagious laughter, generous heart and loving spirit. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
A MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Friday, November 10, 2017 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. MEMORIALS in Mrs. Thill’s memory may be directed to Mercy Health Partners, Dan and Mavis Thill Heart and Vascular Center(www.mercyhealthmuskegongiving.com).
