Max Grubbs' Obituary
Mr. Leora Max Grubbs, age 86, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 08, 2017 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 7, 1931 to Glen and Edith (Becktell) Grubbs. Max was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. On September 8, 1954, Max married the former Phyllis Marie Herrala in Muncie, Indiana. He had been employed by Sealed Power for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1985. Max was a member of The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene, the Derezinski VFW Post #7729, Masonic Lodge #140, and the Chosin Few Korean War Veterans. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis; seven children, Janice (John) Kuzma, Sharon Palmer, Jon Grubbs, Earth (Carl) Pounsberry, Gayle (Joseph) Jarvis, Glenda (Greg) Meier and Susan (Jack) Heethouse; 17 grandchildren, Troy (Beth), Kraig (Amanda), Brent (Jamie), Brooke, Elizabeth (John), Tom Jr. (Christa), Tanya, Andrew (Renae), Joel (Tailor), Brittney, Aimee, Brandon, Aubrey, Alexa, Kyle, Tyler and Ryan; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcena (Bill) Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gaylord, Melvin, Gordon and Ronald Grubbs and four sisters, Melvalyne Andrews, twin-sister, Maxine Webb, Anita Stephen and Eloise French. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2017 at The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Aaron Gregory officiating. VISITATION will be at church one hour prior to his service. MEMORIALS in Max’s memory may be made to The Lakes Community Church or Harbor Hospice Foundation. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
