Max Carl Loss' Obituary
Mr. Max Carl “Mad Max” Loss, age 73, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on February 27, 1948 to Max E. and Betty J. (Camp) Loss. Max was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was employed by Wood Trucking for 32 years prior to his retirement and worked his entire career on the SD Warren property where he earned his nick name, “Mad Max”. He could operate all the large equipment but spent most of his time driving earth movers. Max was a member of the Lakeside Eagles, VFW Post #3195 and the former Muskegon American Legion. He enjoyed trips to the casino, music, random road trips, and family get-togethers. Max was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours on the water, most recently in his boat, “The Max”. On May 24, 1996 Max married the former Judith Ann Close and she survives him along with three children, Scott (Jenny) Loss, Carl (Melissa) Loss, and Jill (BJ) Vogelsong; eight grandchildren, Cody (Alyssa Bell) Loss, Trenda Loss, Joe Coffell, Collin Coffell, Bryan Martin, Logan Loss, Lexie Loss, and Skye McNamee; one great-granddaughter, Liliana Loss; brother, Kim (Sheila) Loss; sister, Jan (Tom) Wilkins; and dear friends, Al and Sue Hosko. Max was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Linda Loss; parents; granddaughter, Sonya Loss; brothers, Dennis Camp, Leo Loss, and James Loss; and his beloved dogs, Camelot and Rocket. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 9, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating. MILITARY HONORS will be performed under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service.
