Max A. Russell's Obituary
Max A. Russell, age 88, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019. He was born August 21, 1930 in Muskegon to Glen and Bernice (Armstrong) Russell. On September 8, 1950, he married Delores J. Teuling in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2003. Max and his partner, Chuck Smith, owned and operated R&S Paintenance, for which he took great pride in, for 40 years prior to retiring in 2006. He was a member of Fifth Reformed Church where he had been an Elder and a Deacon. Max enjoyed children, but he especially loved watching his grandchildren. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Marcia (Ed) Wilkes of Muskegon, Jack (Karri) Russell of Muskegon, Ken (Julie) Russell of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren: Dawn (Gary) Sackett, Kevin (Myriam) Wilkes, Michelle (Mark) Feary, Mark (Deanna) Smith, Heather (Carlos) Grisales, Emily (Patrick) Bruno, Lisa (Justin) Traunero, Alicia (Kevin) Manning, Jeff (Jamie) Russell, and Jacob Russell; 20 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Albert (Fran) Russell of Ohio. Max was also preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Wilkes; brother, John Russell; and a sister, Marcella Russell. FUNERAL SERVICES for Max will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Fifth Reformed Church (2330 Holton Rd.) with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 4-7 PM Friday, August 2, 2019 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210 and also one hour prior to the service Saturday morning. Burial will take place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. Memorials to the Fifth Reformed Church Capital Improvement Fund will be appreciated.
