Maxine R. Ghezzi's Obituary
Maxine Ghezzi, age 87, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Covenant Care Center in Panama City, FL. She was born on April 15, 1926, to Max and Rose (Wilkins) Saylor in Hill City, MN. On August 28, 1948, Maxine married A. Richard Ghezzi, and spent 64 years married to the love of her life. Prior to her marriage, Maxine worked at Mill’s Ice Cream Store and Milady’s Dress Shop. In the late 60’s, Maxine managed the family business, Ghezzi’s House of Flavors; and in the 1990’s, Maxine assisted her husband in his AAA insurance agency. Maxine was the life of every party; she is dearly remembered for her smile, infectious laugh and her impeccable style. Maxine’s kindness and warmth allowed her to make friends with everyone she met. She loved her family, her friends and vacationing with both; she loved their condo in Panama City Beach, FL, playing tennis and golf, bridge and dancing, once winning the top prize at a line-dancing competition because “she was having the most fun”. Maxine is survived by her husband and three of her children; Patti Ghezzi of Ann Arbor, Dick (Sue Dratz) Ghezzi of Muskegon and Mary (Hal) Ockerse of Boise, ID; six grandchildren; Barry (Amanda) Ghezzi, Travis (Kellie Gossett) Ghezzi, Bianca Ghezzi, Josh Ockerse, Jeff Ockerse and Kayla Ockerse, three great-grandchildren (Bella, Nolan and Sophea Ghezzi) and the family dog, Buffy; brother, Lee (Marlene) Saylor; sisters, Mary Ann Lestinsky and Colleen (Larry) McRoberts along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael, sister, Winnie Clark, and brothers, Jim and Bill Saylor, as well as her parents. FUNERAL SERVICE will be Wednesday, March 19th at 1:30pm at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St.231-798-1100 with Paul Kurdziel officiating. VISITATION with the family will be Tuesday, March 18th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm and one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
