Maxine L. "Deede" Kleyn's Obituary
Mrs. Maxine L. “Deede” Kleyn, age 89, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at her home in Muskegon, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 19, 1927 in Williamsport, PA to Howell and Henrietta (Thorton) Aderhold and was raised from an early age by her loving aunt and uncle, Abe and Anna Hartsema. She married Donald H. Kleyn in Muskegon on December 5, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1991. Deede had worked for Muskegon Public Schools as a cook for many years prior to her retirement. She had formerly attended Muskegon Gospel Chapel but more recently had attended Kainay Community Church. Maxine was an avid, longtime Tigers fan. She enjoyed knitting, reading and playing her organ, but her friends and family always came first. SURVIVORS include her children, Linda Kleyn and her son, Brian (Barbra) Kleyn; daughter-in-law, Debra Kleyn; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and her loving sister, Doris Metzger. She was also preceded in death by her son, David; brother, Edward; and her 2 sisters, Vivian and AnnaMary. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 16, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231)798-1100. VISITATION will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
