Maxine M. "Mickey" Lindback's Obituary
Mrs. Maxine M. “Mickey” Lindback, age 94, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020. She was born on June 19, 1925 to Alex and Doris (Wainwright) Nelson in Muskegon, MI. Maxine was a woman of faith and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Muskegon. She graduated from Muskegon High School, where she was a Majorette in the marching band. On February 3, 1945, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Elmer Lindback in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 67 years of marriage full of love and laughter. Elmer preceded her in death on July 17, 2012. Maxine was a longtime member with her husband at the Vikings showing her support for those who served our country. She was an active member and was part of several committees and helped plan various events. She truly enjoyed being surrounded by all her family and friends at the Vikings. She was also a former member of the Moose Lodge. Mickey had many hobbies she enjoyed such as, reading, baking, and cooking. She was known for her infamous homemade apple pie and preparing pickled herring every holiday season. Maxine also was an avid golfer and in her younger years enjoyed playing the piano. She loved living near Lake Michigan. Maxine will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 3 children, Robert (Karen) Lindback, Doris Yerkie and Sue (George) Weissflog; brother, Albert Nelson; 4 grandchildren, Chris (Brian) Stevenson, Tom (Shoane) Lindback, Jeffie Lindback and Angela Yerkie; 5 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Emily, Andrea, Ryan and Michael; very special sister-in-law, Eilene Nelson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffery Lindback; sister, Gladys Keglovitz; 2 brothers, Charles Nelson and Bill Nelson; and 2 sisters-in-law, Maxine Nelson and Joan Nelson. A private family service will be held at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
