Mrs. Maxine M. Singleton's Obituary
Mrs. Maxine M. Singleton, 89, passed away early Friday morning, August 7, 2015. She was born August 28, 1925 to Henry and Johanna (VanderMolen) VanderLeest in Muskegon. Maxine retired from Mercy Hospital to join her husband as co-owner at Singleton Reproduction in Grand Rapids. Maxine was a member of the Muskegon Church of Christ. She will be deeply missed as a mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Maxine will be remembered as a great cook who never let company leave hungry. On November 21, 1942 Maxine and Ronald were married in Kansas City, Missouri. Survivors include her 4 children, Linda (Ronald) Mixter, Susan (Doug) Kirk, Michael (Ann) Singleton, Mary (Duane) Frazine; 8 grandchildren, Ronald (Tina) Mixter, Jr., Rachelle (Mike) Gillard, Brian (Amanda) Hieftje, Gregory (Michael) Singleton Ferron, Sarah (Daniel) Petersen, Duane (Courtney) Frazine, Jr., Steve (Chriztine) Kirk, Stacey James; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Joanne Sterenberg; sisters-in-law, Barb VanderLeest, Charlotte Dean; several nieces and nephews; very dear close family friends, Sue and Mike Thaler. Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Ronald on November 13, 2012; her parents; sister, Berdina VanDyke; brother, Cornelius “Bob” VanderLeest; great-granddaughter, Paige Belanger; father and mother-in-law, Walter (Stella) Singleton. The funeral service for Maxine will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Mr. Tim Bryson officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5-8 PM Monday evening.
