Maxine E. Spink age 96, of Ravenna died Friday, May 14, 2010 at Sanctuary at McAuley Place in Muskegon. Maxine was born on March 16, 1914 in Onaway, Michigan to the late Guy and Ethel (McCillis) Benham. She married Richard Spink Read Obituary
I work at Sanctuary at McAuley and thought Maxine was just delightful. She always had a smile on her face. Whenever she would see my dogs or any other animal her face would just light up and she would have to give them hugs and kisses.
Even though she wasn't here very long I miss her and feel truly honored to have met her.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. What a wonderful run she had though. She was a great lady, and to this day I have never found peanut butter fudge that could touch what she used to make for us when we were kids.
You are in our thoughts and prayers. It would be great to hear back from you when time allows.

She was one of the neatest ladies that I ever knew. From what I could see, she had a pretty good and long life.
I hope to still see you in the restaurant once in a while.

So sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember Mrs Spink as a 4-H Leader and always helping the junior judging team. I learned much of what I know about horses from her. Even though I did not stay in contact with her, I spoke of her often. She will be greatly missed.

Sincere condolences to Maxine's family. I loved her . . . but not her homemade root beer! Ninety-six years on Earth is a good, long time. Thirty-five years of service to 4-H is impressive too! I am glad that I knew her. Maxine will certainly be missed.

I can't tell you how much of an impression your mom made on me in my youth at the 4-H Fair way back when it was still held at Conklin Park! Please know that her kindness impacted so many youth over the years. She was such and honest, loving, and strong woman, who obvioulsy lived a very long, wonderful, and fullfilling life. I know how much you will miss her - you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the family of Maxine Spink,
I want to say what an inspiration this little lady has been in my life. I missed out on having her for a 4H leader,but still gleaned a few of the benefits from my cousin Alicia , who did have that priveledge. I came to know Maxine through the 4H trail rides as an adult and immediately became friends, but I think Maxine had that affect on everyone she met, especially horse people. It was an annual highlight to take her to the 4H fair in the recent few years and help her present the trophy she had donated years ago. There are several names of well deserving winners on that trophy and Maxine was so delighted to meet most of them as were they to meet her.
One of the highlights for me was when Maxine, at about age 86, came and used my horse Suzy and went on a 45 minute trail ride!!!! "Wow," she would say, I feel like I died and went to heaven." I know I really enjoyed that so much as well.
Maxine was a lady that knew her mind and knew how to make time to do the things she loved to do. I will miss her greatly; no one can fill the gap she leaves. I am sure the Good Lord will keep her busy in her new home on high.....complete with a stable full of her beloved buckskins!!!(and a few kitties)
