Maxine E. Maddocks' Obituary
Maxine E. Maddocks, age 87, of Spring Lake, died peacefully Sunday, December 10, 2006 at home. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on August 13, 1919 into a loving family, Ole & Emma Hage. She graduated from Muskegon High School and was a life long member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Muskegon. She was the café manager of Hardy Herpolsheimers and worked for Bunker Jr. High. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis “Al” Maddocks; brothers, Bob (Irene) Hage, Sam (Lu) Hage, twin brother, Max (Jane) Hage; and sister, Mildred (Milton) Andersen. She is survived by sister, Ruth Jean (Bill) Thorn; daughter, Kamie (Doug) Fortier of Spring Lake; 3 incredible grandchildren, Zachary, and twins, Kelsey and Alex; and cousins Peggy (Paul) Durkee, and Pat (Bob) Olsen. Maxine excelled at entertaining and caring for others. She loved to cook, eat, laugh and gather with family and friends. She was optimistic, grateful, and filled with hospitality and grace. Her greatest thrill was traveling to Norway, England and various spots in the U.S. She delighted in her grandchildren, and had a deep and abiding faith in God. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Muskegon (1132 Southern Ave.) with Revs. Karen Biggerstaff and Tom Williamsen officiating. VISITATION with her family will be 6-8 PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 and 1 hour prior to the service at church, from 10-11 AM.
