Maxine L. Neff's Obituary
Mrs. Maxine J. Neff, age 90, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007, in Norton Shores. She was born October 13, 1916, in Mason City, Iowa, to Arthur and Pearl (Miner) Johnson. She lived in McGregor, Iowa, and Puyallup, Washington, in her early years and graduated in 1939 from the University of Iowa in Home Economics. She married Robert L. Neff on February 26, 1939, in Buffalo, New York. She went to Muskegon Community College in 1971 at the age of 55 and received her LPN degree. She enjoyed helping others and seeing them grow their abilities. She taught young people at church as well as friends, relatives, and people she met. Maxine and her husband and two children moved to the Muskegon area in 1945 and lived 20 years in North Muskegon and 37 years in Montague. She enjoyed Garden Club and the White Lake Area Historical Society. Survivors include 2 children, Katharine Neff of Norton Shores and Richard (Carolyn) Neff of Manchester, NH; and 5 grandchildren, Laurel, Mary, Mike, Eric, and Christine. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 1PM Tuesday, April 17, at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Randall R. Hansen officiating, with a light lunch and fellowship time to follow. VISITATION will be Monday, April 16 from 6-8PM at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210.
