Melanie Wisniewski's Obituary
Mrs. Melanie Wisniewski, age 80, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022,
at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 14, 1942, in Chicago to Harry and
Teresa (Nicolaus) Schreiber. On May 8, 1965, she married the love of her life Jerry Wisniewski.
Melanie was a dedicated member of St. Patrick and St. Anthony Catholic Church, and served
for many years as an active Third Order Carmelite, living a way of life that is dedicated to prayer,
community and ministry. She was very talented with her hands, from sewing, to knitting,
drawing/painting and carving. Melanie liked to stay busy, and filled her time lovingly raising her
five children, and participating in church activities. Most of all she loved spending time with
family, creating beautiful art, and being a witness for Christ in every way she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings: Gerry, Patricia, and Maureen; and a
niece: Janet.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry; five children: Jerry (Kelly), Julie (Tony), Dan
(Tricia), Matthew (Jennifer), and Holly (Chris); 15 grandchildren: Joey, Jami, and Matthew,
Jennifer, Nicole and Florence, Sydney, Reilly and Carter, Kaileigh, Kendall and Brynn, Miles,
Declan and Maeve; and one great-grandchild, Hudson; many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at St. Patrick –
St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation will take place
following the service during the luncheon. Burial will take place in Historic Cemetery in Grand
Haven Township. Memorial contributions in memory of Melanie may be given to Haiti Ministries,
