Melvin Jo Dausman's Obituary
Melvin Jo Dausman, age 75, passed away Sunday morning, January 7, 2018. He was born June 19, 1942 in Mount Vernon, Indiana to Louis and Reba (Jackson) Dausman. Jo was in the Army National Guard Reserves for 8 years and for 42 years worked for Standard Automotive before retiring. On August 5, 1961, he married the former Blanche Giddings in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2016. For 10 years, Jo served as a volunteer fireman for the Egelston Twp. Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and in his younger days, loved to play softball. Most importantly, he loved being a grandpa and great-grandpa. Taking them to all their activities and watching all their sporting events. SURVIVORS include 4 children: Joseph (Amanda) Dausman, Jodi Phillipo, Roy (Cathy) Dausman, Terri (James Ransom) Cowles; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Janice (Bruce) Moore; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Marcus Shirley; and twin brother, Marvin Adam Dausman. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Harold Pierson officiating.
