Mr. Merle H. Hittle, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Merle H. Hittle, Sr., age 78, passed away Wednesday morning, October 29, 2014. He was born May 22, 1936 to Joseph and Anna (Henrie) Hittle in Muskegon and lived his entire life in the area. On June 4, 1954, he married the former Marilyn Ruth Mars and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2011. Merle owned and operated Hittle Real Estate and Hittle Builders for many years. Merle was also the Dalton Township Supervisor 1984-1999 when he retired. He was later re-elected as a Dalton Township Trustee in 2008 and held that position until 2012. SURVIVORS include his 4 sons, Merle H. “Rusty” Hittle, Jr. of Plano, TX, Melvin L. (Sandy) Hittle of Newberry, MI, Michael D. Hittle of Twin Lake, Mark S. (Karen) Hittle of Baldwin, MI; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Shirlee J. Jackson on February 13, 2011; his parents; 2 sisters, Roberta (Victer) Houston and Elsie (Robert) Webb; 3 brothers, Harold (Vivian) Hittle, Lester (Geneva) Hittle, and Melvin L. Hittle. In accordance with Mr. Hittle’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Lakeside Cemetery with Pastor Robby Richardson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Hittle’s memory may be made to the Dalton Township Library, 3175 Fifth Street, Twin Lake, MI 49457.
