Mr. Merle "Allen" Storr's Obituary
Mr. Merle “Allen” Storr, Jr., age 86, of Grand Haven and Midland passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. He was born November 20, 1926 in Grand Rapids to Merle, Sr. and Alice (Danhof) Storr.
Allen worked for Dow Chemical for over 30 years and retired in 1985. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was a “car guy” and enjoyed tinkering with cars. He enjoyed day trips on Saturdays with his family, all over the state of Michigan and listening to classical music, especially organ music. He also played both piano and organ. He was a very proud University of Michigan graduate and fan.
On September 22, 1956 he married the former Beatrice Hadley in Dearborn, MI and she survives him along with 3 children: Cliff (Lucia) Storr of DeWitt, MI, Bill Storr of Green, OH, Nancy Storr of Medina, OH; 2 grandchildren, Ethan and Kelsey; and his beloved dog “Duffie”. He was preceded in death by his special cousin, Annabel Hess.
A funeral service for Allen will take place 11:00 AM, Monday, April 1, 2013 at The Lee Chapel at Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the chapel. Memorial contributions in memory of Allen may be given to Harbor Humane Society of West Olive (www.harborhumane.org).
