Mr. Merlin "Rusty" Medendorp's Obituary
Mr. Merlin F. “Rusty” Medendorp, age 78, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his home in Florida. He was born May 15, 1934 in Marion, MI to Fred and Pansy (Nicholes) Medendorp, and moved to DeLand from Muskegon in 1974. Rusty attended Muskegon Community College, and was an engineer for Brunswick until his retirement. He married Sheila Mae Sedgley,and she survives him along with four children, Randy (Naomi) Medendorp of Muskegon, Kevin (Amy) Medendorp of Atlanta, GA, Brian Medendorp and Mistie Medendorp, both of Florida; four grandchildren, Beau (Jill) Medendorp, Rusty (Kristin) Medendorp, Griffin Medendorp, Emily Medendorp; three great-grandchildren, Anna, Abby, and Becca; one brother, James (Pat) Medendorp; one sister, Coral Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Medendorp, Dixie Sedgley; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Dale Medendorp; one brother-in-law, David Sedgley. THE FUNERAL SERVICE will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, (231) 798-1100, with Pastor Bob Whitlock officiating. Burial will take place at Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service.
