Merlin O. "Mert" Wever's Obituary
It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of Merlin O. “Mert” Wever, 89, January 11, 2021. He was born on May 31, 1931 to Otis and Lula Wever in Crystal Valley, MI. He was a dedicated mechanic for Eckrich Meats until retiring in 1990. On January 26, 1952 he married the love of his life, the former Jeanne Roy in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 68 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2020. Jeanne was a housewife, mother, grandmother, and teacher’s aide at Wolf Lake School. Merlin and Jeanne enjoyed their retirement in Florida. Jeanne enjoyed crafts, quilting and gardening while Merlin enjoyed driving his tractor, sports, and beer. Above all things, they truly enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. They are survived by their four children Shelly Mclouth, Rhonda Heethuis, Randy (Krista) Wever and Karen (Tim) Johnston; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. They are preceded in death by their parents, Hazel and David Roy and Lula and Otis Wever. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
