Merritt W. Bergklint's Obituary
Merritt W. Bergklint, age 88, passed away at home on Sunday, July 18, 2021. He was born on December 1, 1932 to Wilford and Vesta (Moffet) Bergklint in Muskegon Hts. Merritt was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Merritt was a life time member of the Viking Lodge and the Lakeside Veteran’s Club. For 22 years, he was co-owner of Bergklint and Hines Mechanical in Muskegon. He also worked as a master plumber for local #154 and later #174. On August 8, 1959 he married Helane F. Hegedus in Muskegon and this year would have celebrated 62 years of marriage. Helane survives him along with 3 children, Linda (Christopher) Keur, Michael (Alice) Bergklint and Matthew Bergklint; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and sister-in-laws, Rebecca Bergklint and Christine Bergklint. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert and Eugene Bergklint and an infant grandchild. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11:00am, Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. Thomas Catholic Church (3252 Apple Ave.) with Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding. VISITATION with the family will be held one hour prior to the service. MILITIARY RITES will take place 1:00pm, Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Viking Lodge (3132 Lakeshore Dr.) MEMORIALS to the Viking Lodge Scholarship Fund or Hospice of Michigan would be appreciated.
