Metta Marie "Dede" Long's Obituary
Mrs. Metta Marie “Dede” Long, age 65, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005 at her home. She was born on October 27, 1939 to James and Ferel (Hichue) Green, grew up in Ravenna and then moved to Muskegon where she had resided the rest of her life. Dede loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She loved snowmen and shopping for her family. On April 21, 1964, she married Larry Long, and he survives her along with 4 children, Donald Long of Austin, TX, Denise Smith of Anchorage, AL, Susan (Richard) Hamilton of Ravenna, Terri (David Hornstra) Long of Muskegon; 1 step-son, Anthony (Lisa) Secrest of North Muskegon; 11 grandchildren, Billy, April, Jill, Jenni (Jason) Andrea, Chad, Jessica, Dylan, Nicholas, D.J., Kasey; 2 great-grandchildren, Kassi and Madison; her mother, Ferel Green; 2 brothers, James (Dorothy) Green, Charles (Rita) Green; 1 sister, Darlene Hern; many nieces, nephews and special friend, Jerry Bartulla. A Memorial Service will be 1PM Wednesday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Rev. David Cadle officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
