Michael B. "Mike" Baker's Obituary
Michael Brian “Mike” Baker, age 73, passed away in Allendale on Monday, September 2, 2024. He was born November 5, 1950 in Muskegon to Frank and Lois (Blodgett) Baker. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Muskegon High School and married his wife of 51 years, the former Cynthia Muston, in Muskegon on October 14, 1972. Mike was a Deputy Sheriff for Muskegon County for 32 years and another 8 years part-time prior to his retirement. Through the years, Mike worked closely with the D.A.R.E. Program and belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police Charles D. Hammond Lodge #99. Mike was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Fruitport Eagles, was a Boy Scout leader, and had coached little league baseball for a number of years. SURVIVORS include his wife, Cindy; three children: Matthew (Julie) Baker, Brian (Cheryl) Baker, and Jason (Kristen) Baker; ten grandchildren: Derek, Megan, Blake, Brooke, Morgan, Macey, Jackson, Paige, Evelyn, and Zack; one great-grandson, Everyn; two sisters: Charlene Firos and Dianne Baker-Popma; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL for Mike will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, September 6, 2024 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210 and also one hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday.
