Michael Nicholas Bouth's Obituary
Mr. Michael Nicholas Bouth, age 88, a resident of Norton Shores, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. He was born in Munising, Michigan on April 15, 1936 to Nicholas and Catherine (Stathakis) Bouth. For many years, he was involved with the family restaurant, The Munising Café, and later he built and operated Mr. B’s restaurant until 1977. He enjoyed coaching kids, sports, bowling, fishing and he raced snowmobiles where he was widely known as the “Flying Greek”. He later was employed by Ramada Hotels as a Regional Marketing Director prior to his retirement in 2004.
Locally, Michael was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and the Grand Island Masonic Lodge. As a Mason, he was a member of the Shriners and participated for years in the Shrine Circus and parades as “Socko” the Clown. He was also very involved with (GA) Gamblers Anonymous support group.
On April 14, 1996 Michael married the former Sharon K. Moriarty in Lansing, Michigan and she survives him along with his son, Nicholas Bouth; stepchildren, Holly Opsommer and Michael Hanna; five grandchildren; his brother, Chuck and wife, Anita Bouth; and nephew, Peter Bouth. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Cathy Bourthis.
A VISITATION will be held from 4:30 -7:30 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with the TRISAGION PRAYER SERVICE held at 4:30 PM. An additional Celebration of Michael’s Life and interment will be held at a later date in Munising, Michigan. Those arrangements will be announced by Bowerman Funeral Home, 302 E. Superior St., Munising, MI 49862.
