Michael Joseph "Mike" Brewer's Obituary
Michael Joseph “Mike” Brewer, age 40, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025. He was born December 18, 1984 in Detroit, MI to Jeffrey Brewer and Carole Megge. Mike moved to West Michigan in 2008. On July 5, 2008, he married Jessica A. Tabor in Muskegon. Mike took pride in his work and serving others. He had a wide array of talents, as he was known for being a "Jack of all trades, and a master of a few". Mike was currently working in maintenance for Safe Harbor Marina in Muskegon. He cherished his co-workers and customers. Mike also plowed snow in the Grand Rapids area during the winter months for his dear friends at Mill Creek Farm Perennial. He loved having the opportunity to come to someone's rescue and help them whenever they were in need. He was previously an on-call firefighter and first responder for Crockery Creek Township Fire Department and Fruitport Township Fire Department, as well as a "fixer" working residential construction jobs. Mike was a passionate boater, avid snowmobiler, and gifted tinkerer. He found joy on the water and in the workshop. He was a den parent for the Boy Scouts and performed various duties for the Muskegon County Fairgrounds in Fruitport. Mike was a member of Port City Church – Cloverville Campus where he would volunteer for church security. He is survived by his loving wife, Jessi Brewer; 3 sons, Juddsen Brewer, Hucklan Brewer, Fenntin Brewer; his father, Jeffrey (Darlene Soroka) Brewer; 2 brothers, Derek (Kailynn Veryser) Lievens, Ryan Lievens; 3 sisters, Corey (John) Skovran, Devon (Justyn) Lafata, Elizabeth Lievens; his step-father, Tim (Kathy McLeod) Lievens; his step-mother, Sharon (Chad Ewald) Brewer; his mother-in-law, Rebecca Tabor; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carole Lievens. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Friday, November 14, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Port City Church – Cloverville Campus, 3387 Heights-Ravenna Road, Muskegon, MI 49444. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Go Fund Me: Support Jessica Brewer and Her Boys After Tragedy, or to the Higher Education Fund for their 3 sons (information will be posted at the visitation and memorial service).
