Mr. Michael O. Carpenter's Obituary
Mr. Michael O. Carpenter, 86, passed away Friday morning, August 21, 2015 in Muskegon. Born February 3, 1929 in Muskegon Heights to Michael E. and Helen (Bergren) Carpenter, he married the former Jean F. Smith on August 17, 1951, and she died August 29, 2011. Michael and Jean were life residents of Norton Shores and summer residents of Big Blue Lake. He retired as a housing inspector for the City of Muskegon, and spent 37 years in the Michigan National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Carpenter was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, Mona Lake Boat Club, and the Elks Lodge. His SURVIVORS include his children: Joel E. (Joan) Carpenter of Traverse City, Michael P. (Kristine) Carpenter of Fremont, Kristi (Ted) Noeker of Walsenburg, CO, and Julie (Michael) Bredin of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother William (Joyce) Carpenter of Twin Lake; a sister Elizabeth Zeckzer of Benecia, CA; and a sister-in-law Betty Jordan of Muskegon. VISITATION will be 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231-798-1100) followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
