Michael W. "Mike" De Jonge's Obituary
Michael “Mike” De Jonge passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after years of fighting against cancer. Mike was born in Muskegon on August 7, 1947, to William & Clara (Bates) De Jonge who preceded him in death along with his sisters and brothers-in-law; Karen (Bob) Fields, Alida (Frank) Wall, and Bernard “Bud” Lackey. Mike proudly served the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist for many years before retiring from Supreme Machined Products Company, Inc. in Spring Lake. Mike enjoyed working on cars, golfing, and collecting watches. He also enjoyed watching football, golf, and reading. Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Mike is survived by his three children: Tracy (Scott) Heistand, Casey (Chad) De Jonge-Belanger, and Robert (Jessica) De Jonge; along with his siblings, Holly Lackey, Jeyne (Herb) Smith, Barry (Jan Lorenz) De Jonge, and Danya (Henry) Franczek; eight grandchildren: Brandon, Codey, Hailey, Harlyn, Jacob, Kyleigh, Charleigh, and Jamison; two great-grandchildren: Kavan and Benjamin along with many nieces and nephews. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE with military honors will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Egelston Township Cemetery (5804 Evanston Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442). A CELEBRATION OF MIKE’S LIFE will be held following the service at the Wall Farm (11137 S. Dickinson, Holton, MI 49425). MEMORIAL DONATIONS (instead of flowers) can be made to Muskegon Veterans Food Bank (165 E. Apple Ave., Ste 201, Muskegon, MI 49442).
