Michael Franklin Goyette's Obituary
Mr. Michael Franklin Goyette, age 84, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021 at his home in Norton Shores, Michigan. He was born in Menominee, Michigan on February 23, 1937 to Jerome and Agnes (Ahearn) Goyette and was raised in Marinette, Wisconsin. Michael graduated from Northern Michigan University and received his Master’s Degree from University of Michigan. For more than 25 years, he was employed by Oakridge Public Schools and served as a teacher, principal, and interim Superintendent. Michael was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the Muskegon Vikings Linne Lodge #57. He loved to sing and was involved with various local catholic church choirs and was a member of the barbershop quartet, The Four Bids. He was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan and shareholder. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, and traveling. On May 28, 1960, Michael married the former Eleanor “Onie” Kleman in Marinette, Wisconsin and she preceded him in death in 2016. He is survived by his daughters, Melissa (David) Strait and Elizabeth (Errol) Pearsons and grandchildren, Geoffrey Goyette, Carrie (Samm) Woods, Michael (fiancee, Maddie Sforzo) Strait, and Andrew Strait. In addition to his wife, Michael was preceded in death by his son, Peter Goyette; parents; and brother, Jerome Goyette. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 8, 2021 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic church (2929 McCracken, Norton Shores, MI 49441) with Rev. Charles Hall presiding. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 and from 10-11AM Thursday at church. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE OPEN HOUSE will be held from 4-8 PM Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Hagars Hideaway (3156 Lakeshore Dr, Muskegon, MI 49441). Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
