Mr. Michael D. Hanis' Obituary
Mr. Michael D. Hanis, 63, passed away Thursday morning, November 10, 2016 in Grand Rapids. He was born November 17, 1952 to Joseph and Shirley (Gregersen) in Muskegon, and lived most of his life here before moving to Ludington. Mike had worked at CWC for 20 years, and then went to work for Howmet in Whitehall until he retired in 2005. He had also volunteered for the City of Norton Shores Fire Department. On July 21, 1973 he married Jody A. Wallstead, and she survives him along with 3 children, Michael (Meredith) Hanis, Amanda (Michael) Snyder, Jason Hanis; 5 grandchildren, Austin, Ryan, Madison, Kayleigh and Andrew; his mother, Shirley (George) Butcher; 3 brothers, Joseph, Dan and Tom Hanis; 6 sisters, Anne (Tim) Kitzman, Betty (Dale) Witham, Patti (Ken) Parker, Nancy (Steve) McMullen, Marilyn (Dick) DeWard, Julie (Tim) Willer; a step-brother, Rick (Tammy) Nicholl; and a step-sister, Jody Nicholl. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph; his sister, Christine Grayson; and his step-mother, Norma. A service celebrating Mike’s life will be held Monday, November 14, at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100.
