Carolyn Holtz
Michael F. Holtz was my loving, caring, compassionate, strong willed father and best friend.
I was his primary care giver from the moment he quit dialysis until he took his last breath; And I'd do it all over again 100 times if given the chance - My Dad was a wonderful father - I miss him more than words can say. Today would have been his 67th birthday. He lived a long, eventful life and had many children to show for it.
My Dad had more friends than anyone I know. Amazing friends at that. They stuck by his side through thick and thin. He told me alot of wonderful memories he had with quite a few of them. It was heart warming that he was able to pass on knowing he had so many wonderful people that loved and cared for him dearly.
I cannot begin to say how much of a blessing, (though at times, very tough)it was to have the honor of spending his last months of life with him.
Someday, when I have children of my own, though he wont be here to meet them, I will be able to tell them all about their gaurdian angel - My Dad.
My Dad loved us kids more than anything; More than himself. He did everything he could to make us happy, at times, too much. My sister and I he held a special place in his heart for as his daughters: He would always tell me that in so many words.
And his sons - He couldn't be more proud of.
Even though he isn't here on earth anymore, his memory lives throughout each of us kids - I am blessed to be able to say that a part of my dad lives within me.
I am part of him, annd my children will be as well. A part of him will live on for eternity and knowing that is most comforting of all.
My Dad wanted nothing less than our best and for the rest of my life, I will strive for. Then, someday, when it's my time to go and be reunited with my Daddy once again, I can tell him all about my accomplishments and he'll be proud.
For the rest of my life, I will be living to make my Dad proud!
He told me there are only a few keys to happiness -
He said
1. DO what YOU like to do
2. Be with someone that makes YOU happy
3. Stay healthy - NO drugs or alcohol AT ALL
There were plenty more, he could go on and on about what he wished he could have changed so that he could guide me in a better direction with the best and worst 'examples' he could.
My Daddy and I were up talking one night, or should I say morning, about a month before he passed, (he enjoyed the company during the late hours) and he told me to start a business.
We came up with the most clever business ever and someday I will do it!
I love you, Daddy.
Rest in peace
Love, your daughter,
Carolyn
