Michael Lee Kitchka's Obituary
Michael Lee Kitchka, age 76, passed away on June 11, 2026. Mike was born on May 14, 1950, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Charles and Gladys (Baldwin) Kitchka. He graduated from Fruitport High School in 1968.
Mike was a devoted fan of Chevrolet vehicles and spent much of his career at Gage Chevrolet in Grand Haven. He took great pride in serving his customers and was known for the personal relationships he built over the years. Mike believed in treating people right and was always willing to go out of his way to help, earning the trust and friendship of countless customers throughout his career.
Mike will be remembered as a loyal and trustworthy man who genuinely cared for others. He greatly valued his family and made every gathering special, especially Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving. He found great joy in elaborately pranking or scaring his kids and taking them on memorable trips to see the Detroit Lions or ride motorcycles.
A lifelong Detroit Lions fan, Mike rooted for his team through thick and thin. He also remained a proud supporter of the Fruitport Trojans Football Team, enjoyed watching NASCAR, and loved spending time on his Harley.
Mike is survived by his children, Erin (Mark) Stedman, Dana (Brian) Rosema, Seth (Elizabeth) Kitchka, and Justin (Cathryn) Kitchka; grandchildren, Clay, Ava, Jillian, Lila, Quinn, Reese, Peyton, Ethan, and Evelyn; brothers, Robert Kitchka and David Kitchka; and sister-in-law, Sheila Kitchka. Michael is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Charles Kitchka and John (Wanda) Kitchka.
A visitation for Mike will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Memorial contributions in Mike’s honor may be made to the family.
