Michael L. Luker's Obituary
Mr. Michael L. Luker, age 68, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, September 17, 2013, at Mercy Hospital; and woke up in the presence of his Lord and Savior. He was born September 30, 1944 to Chester “Marshall” and B. Ruth (Moultrie) Luker in Union City, TN and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1945. Mike was founder of Luker Custom Canvas, but was most proud of his time serving from 1985-1993 as Pastor to the Pottawatomi Indians with the Midwest Indian Mission, in Crandon, WI. He was an active and proud member of Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton, where he served as Associate Pastor. Mike’s passion was Christ and his ministry work, but was a true family man who also loved to restore “old cars” along the way. On February 24, 1968 he married the former Diane R. Archer, who survives him along with their five children, Sean Luker, Kory (Shawn) Luker, Jennifer (Matt) Cross, Anne (Greg) Casteel and Joylynn Larson all of the Holton area; 13 grand-children, to whom he was affectionately loved as their “Papa”; his mother, B. Ruth Luker and sister, Sue (Gordon) Moen of Fruitport; and sister-in-law, Darcy Luker of Spring Lake. He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall; brother, Timothy and nephew, Jon Moen. A SERVICE OF CELEBRATION will be held 11:00 AM Monday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100) with Pastor David Gruber officiating. Interment will be in Holton Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with Mike’s family will be 2-5:00 PM Sunday.
