Michael Gene Maguire's Obituary
Mr. Michael G. Maguire, age 76, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at a local hospital. He was born March 26, 1938 in Anderson, IN to the late Charles and Wanda (Jackson) Maguire. Mike graduated from Purdue University in 1960 with a Bachelor’s in Aeronautical Engineering. He then began working for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until 1993. He then was employed at General Dynamics until his retirement in 2011. Following his retirement, he was a Counselor for the SCORE Association. Mike was an active member of the Muskegon Elk’s Lodge #274, participating in the Elk’s bowling and golf leagues. He was also a member of the Muskegon Eagles, Pratt & Whitney Old Eagles and the Delta Chi Fraternity. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Muskegon and served on the church building and grounds committee. On October 7, 1961, he married the former Cynthia J. Levack in Glastonbury, CT. She survives him along with 2 daughters, Lisa (Beth Neal) Maguire and Cheryl (Don) Cambron both of Soddy Daisy, TN; 5 grandchildren, Michael Walker, Matt, Kris, Andrew and Will Cambron; 1 brother, Larry (April) Maguire of Plano, TX; and 1 sister, Carole Sorrell of Anderson, IN; also, several nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Saturday, 3:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 1201 Jefferson St., Muskegon, MI 49441 with Rev. Timothy D. VanderHaar officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, First Congregational Church of Muskegon or a charity of your choice.
