Michael Nels Miller's Obituary
Mr. Michael Nels Miller, age 78, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Muskegon. He was born in Ludington, Michigan on June 27, 1940 to Arni and Elizabeth (Racine) Miller. Mike graduated from St. Simon High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Sealed Power (Dana Corporation) for 35 years prior to his retirement and was a member of the Local UAW #637 and had served as their past president. Mike, along with his late wife, Patricia, enjoyed spending time in Las Vegas at their daughter and son-in-law’s home. He fell in love with the city and enjoyed spending time hiking at Red Rock Canyon. Mike also raised and bred Morgan show horses, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid Green Bay Packers, Detroit Red Wings, and Michigan State fan. On September 12, 1970, Mike married the former Patricia Jean Wittkamp and she preceded him in death on August 5, 2014. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Steven Swanson; sister, Mary Beth Utz; nephew, James Arni (Lindsay) Utz; cousins, John (MaryJo) Carpenter, Suzanne Carpenter, Nancy (Glenn) Eacker; many beloved in-laws and dear friend, David Dennis. In addition to his wife, Mike was preceded in death by his parents; stillborn son, Michael Casey Miller; brother, Patric Miller; brother-in-law, John Utz; nephew, Michael Gregory Utz; and cousin, Bob Carpenter. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 10:00AM Saturday, September 15, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. John Brown officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service.
