Mr. Michael Neil Montgomery's Obituary
Mr. Michael Neil Montgomery, 73, passed away April 12, 2021 in Norton Shores. He was born July 14, 1947 to Robert and Betty (Hillman) Montgomery in Manistee, and moved to Montague in 1966. He served Howmet Aerospace as an electrician, and retired after 45 years. He also belonged to UAW Local 1243, and was a member of the 3214 Aerie Eagles.
He loved to make men quilts that were donated to Mercy Johnson Family Cancer Center. Other hobbies included Detroit Tiger baseball games and going to Tiger’s spring training, gardening, bowling, hunting, fishing, traveling, and being a Florida snow bird. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. On September 16, 1991, he married Penelope Burkett, and she survives him along with 3 children: Michaelanne (Charles) Hendrixon, Shawn (Angelique) Montgomery, Joedy (Richard) Peterson; 5 grandchildren: Myles Montgomery, Samantha Hendrixon, Landon (fiancé Kendalynn Pollack) Montgomery, Caleb Peterson, Elly Hendrixon; 3 siblings: Lynn (Stevan) Meck, Robert (Lorey) Montgomery, Karen (Gary) Ingersoll; step-siblings: Michelle Bennett, Michael Montgomery, Norman Montgomery; nieces and nephews; and many beloved extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Montgomery and Betty Montgomery, and his step-mother, Delores Montgomery. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on June 13, 2021 at 3:00pm at Montgomery Inn & Suites (4254 Fruitvale Rd, Montague, MI 49437).
