Michael D. Ohs' Obituary
Michael Ohs, a lifelong resident of Roosevelt Park, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born in Muskegon on August 21, 1949, to David and Barbara (Norton) Ohs, Mike was a proud graduate of Mona Shores High School, class of 1967. He spent his career with GTE, where he was known for his dedication, work ethic, and steady presence.
On June 30, 1984, Mike married the love of his life, Cheryl Lynn Johnson. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and community. Cheryl preceded him in death on October 3, 2021.
Mike was a devoted father to Kristin Filz (Jeffrey) and Geoffrey Ohs (Lindsay), and the proud grandfather of Cameron and Carson. Nothing brought him more joy than being a grandpa — attending games, school events, and cheering his grandchildren on with pride.
He also leaves behind his loving younger siblings: Mary Lindsley (Howard), Jeffrey Ohs (Vickie), and Jane Stratton (Mitch), as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
A diehard Chicago Cubs fan, Mike followed his team with unwavering loyalty through every season. Loved by all who knew him, Michael’s presence brought laughter and comfort.
He will be remembered as a proud grandfather, loving father and brother, loyal friend, and a man who always made time for others. His legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. LOVE YOU MORE.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be announced at a later date.
