Michael Plahutnik's Obituary
Mr. Michael Plahutnik, age 68, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. He was born in Muskegon on November 23, 1952 to Frank and Rachel W. (Sapp) Plahutnik, Sr. Mike graduated from Central Michigan University and was employed by General Motors for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2015. He had previously been employed by Clark Equipment. Mike was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid sports enthusiast, especially Michigan pro teams. Mike also loved music and had an extensive vinyl collection. He was an advocate for Boy Scouts of America and was active with his son’s troop, Troop #217. Throughout the years, Mike had a special bond with his son, and their relationship grew into a great friendship in his adult years. Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States on road trips. He is survived by his son, Michael Frank Plahutnik; brother, Frank (Kay) Plahutnik Jr.; sister, Paula Rae (Steve) Jones; nieces and nephews, Thomas (Marci) Plahutnik, Joe (Amelie) Plahutnik, Matthew (Natalie) LaMore, Michelle Rachel LaMore, Jon-Peter (Mia) LaMore, and Sarah Lynn (Jon) Bird; and several great nieces and nephews. A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 20, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. MEMORIALS in his memory may be directed to the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts of America, American Heart Association, or the American Chronic Pain Association.
