Mr. Michael E. Plunkett Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Michael E. Plunkett, Jr., age 92, passed away Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014 at his home. He was born January 25, 1922 in Muskegon, and was a life resident. Mr. Plunkett worked at Dresser Industries before retiring, and was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Polar Bear VFW Post # 3734. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, casino gambling, and playing cards. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. On September 23, 1944 he married Dorothy I. Gilmore, and she survives him along with 8 children, William (Kim) Plunkett, Kathleen (Stan) Charron, Richard (Debi) Plunkett, Patricia (Richard Beadle) Plunkett, Elizabeth (Thomas) Jandt, Michael (Kim) Plunkett III, David (Cindy) Plunkett, Peggy (John) Nic, all of Muskegon; and also, who was like a son, Richard (Vera) Poulin; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Plunkett; 1 great-grandson, Kyle DeLong; and a daughter-in-law, Jayne Plunkett. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Mr. Plunkett will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 15, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, (231) 798-1100 with Pastor Paulette Zoulek officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION at the funeral home will be 1 hour prior to the service.
