It was my first year at White Pines when I had to take a group out to catch the bus, Cameron Shelton being one of them. Cameron was doing something he wasn’t supposed to and I told him to stop. He looked at me with all the cockiness a ten year old could muster and said, “do you know who my dad is?” I didn’t know Mike very well then, but now I do, and I will tell you that there is a hole that will not be easily filled at White Pines.
P.S. Cameron I never told on you😊

aye hey ya'll this is my princable we deeply miss him like yass queen i lit a candle for this dude bruh

Mike changed my life. He took a chance on hiring an older applicant for a 7th grade position teaching science at White Pines Middle School. This was his 1st year as principal and I was his 1st hire; about 50 years old at the time. He was always encouraging, affirming, and I loved to sit down with him and discuss the big picture of education. He was very easy to talk to and always had a positive outlook on life. I remember he came to my father's funeral and was extremely comfortable talking with people he did not even know. His influence will be greatly missed.
I'm very sorry for your loss. I go to White Pines and heard the news. We will all grieve, but he left a message i think we can all relate too, "Never give up."
