Mr. Michael B. Votsch's Obituary
Michael B. Votsch, age 63, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2014. He was born March 1, 1951 in Miami, FL to Victor and Maria Votsch. Mike retired from the Navy EOD with the rank of E9, the highest enlisted rank, which he was very proud of. While also in the Navy, he assisted on a team during the recovery of the Space Shuttle Challenger. Most recently he had worked for Austin’s Nursery in Ravenna. On October 29, 1987 he married the former Susan Crane in Virginia Beach, VA. Mike was a member and past president of the Fruitport Eagles Aerie 3666 and was currently vice-president of F.O.E. Michigan State Aerie. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors, but he especially loved being with his family. SURVIVORS include his wife: Susan; 3 children: Tracy (James) Cox of Winston-Salem, NC, John (Stephanie) Votsch of Bailey, MI, John Votsch of Fruitport; 2 grandsons: Cole and Aaron; and his brother, Randy Votsch of Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Rudy and baby brother John Votsch. A CELEBRATION OF MIKE’S LIFE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 12, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
