Michael Max Ghezzi's Obituary
Mr. Michael Max Ghezzi, age 54, passed away Friday evening, July 3, 2009 at the Poppen Hospice Residence following a brief illness. Michael was born in Muskegon on June 27, 1955 to A. Richard and Maxine (Saylor) Ghezzi. Mike was an avid hockey and sports fan. Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, the presence he left with those he met and spending time playing with and caring for his beloved dog Buffy. Mike liked riding his bike, miniature golfing, playing basketball, listening to country music and watching classic TV shows. Mike was affectionately known as the “Mayor of the Mall” to which many friends and family members knew him as throughout his life. Mike was a member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He is survived by: his loving parents, Dick and Maxine Ghezzi of Norton Shores; brother, Richard P. (Susanna Dratz) Ghezzi of Muskegon; two sisters, Mary (Harold) Ockerse of Holland, MI and Patrice A. Ghezzi of Maryland and six special nieces and nephews, Barry, Travis, Bianca, Josh, Jeff and K ayla. Recently Mike’s niece, Kayla and nephew, Barry arranged to have two legends in the hockey community come to visit Mike during his illness; Terry Ficorelli of the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Mickey Redmond of the Detroit Red Wings which made a very special “Make-A-Wish” for Mike. The funeral service will be held at: Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1132 Southern Ave., 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 9, 2009, Rev. Karen Biggerstaff officiating. Visitation will be held at:
