Michael R. Howe's Obituary
Michael R. Howe, age 71, passed away at home, Saturday morning, October 22, 2011 following a long illness. He was born in Muskegon on June 1, 1940 to Patrick and Emma (Zhart) Howe and was a 1958 graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central H.S. Mike served his country as an officer in the Army Reserves, attended Muskegon Junior College and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting. Mr. Howe was employed as, corporate controller for Muskegon Piston Ring until his retirement in 1993. Following retirement, Mike went on to work for Leigh Products in Coopersville, serving as Vice President and later as Vice President of Plascore Industries in Zeeland, MI. Mike was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake and former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon, He was a life member of the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274, the Knights of Columbus, the National Accountants Association, the Muskegon Rec. Club, the Old News Boys, Polish Falcons and years ago very active with the Junior Achievement Program. Mike married the former, Linda L. Roe in Muskegon on October 26, 1963 and she survives him along with their three children: daughter, Michelle (Roger) Morgenstern of Norton Shores and their three children, Patrick, Emily & Nicholas; son, Kevin (Laurie) Howe of Temecula, CA and their two sons, Michael & Steven; and daughter, Colleen (Brad) Barraclough of Spring Lake and their two daughters, Beth & Annie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Basham. The Memorial Mass will be held at, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake, 406 E. Savidge, 11:00 A.M., Saturday with Fr. Daniel R. DePew presiding. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
