Michelle A. Caviness' Obituary
Michelle A. Caviness, age 66, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at a hospital in Clinton, MD. She was born October 4, 1956 in Washington, DC to George Hill and Glendora Thomas. Michelle married Jerry Caviness in Abilene, TX on July 4, 1978 and he and daughter Nikkia Bowie preceded her in death in December 2020. They made their home Muskegon Michigan in 1989. Michelle worked in accounting and was employed by Gold Shield Bus Lines. She was self-employed as a travel agent for many years until retirement. Michelle was very active with the Muskegon Area AIDS Resource Services (MAARS) and served as board member of the McCleese Clinic. She also volunteered for Toys for Tots and for the Youth Center. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include 3 grandsons, Tristan, Juwan and Jaiden Bowie; 1 sister, Tawan Roberts; and several extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, George Thomas, George Hill, Darryl Thomas, Reginald Thomas and Aaron Thomas. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Thursday, March 30, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2023 at The Lee Chapel with visitation one hour prior, 11:00AM-12:00PM on Saturday, April 8, 2023.
