Mildred Cox's Obituary
Mrs. Mildred Cox, age 97, passed away peacefully at home early Wednesday morning, June 15, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born March 12, 1914 in Ashley, MI to James and Anna (Slezak) Hnetynka. On December 10, 1932 she married Glenn J. (“Sandy”) Cox in Bannister, MI and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1981. She and Glenn lived in Owosso and Mt. Pleasant prior to moving to the Muskegon area in 1957. Mildred was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church. She left behind a legacy of her many talents; china painting, quilting; especially “crazy necktie quilts”, jewelry making, and crocheting. Mildred very much enjoyed the many years of water aerobics at the Muskegon YMCA and breakfast afterwards with “the girls”. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Judith (Ivan) Cottrell of Cumming, GA; 2 sons, Leslie Cox of Fruitport and James Cox of Norton Shores; 4 grandchildren, Scott (Tracy) Cox, Rob Cox, Susan (Mike ) McFadden and Shannon (David) Reichert; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Glenn, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, MI at a later date.
