Mildred Elaine Peck's Obituary
Mildred Elaine Peck, age 96, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Heartwood Lodge. She was born April 10, 1917 in Spring Lake to O.L. and Laura (Carpenter) Hendricks and married Harry Warren Peck on August 9, 1940 in Spring Lake.
Mildred was a very accomplished pianist, starting out at age 13 playing at church and did not retire until she was about 84 years old. A 1934 graduate of Grand Haven High School, Mildred was a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area and had been employed by Vanderwall Brothers for 15 years until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Emmanuel Free Church and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and collecting antique glassware.
She is survived by a daughter, Melissa Kemme of Monroe; a son, Glenn Peck of Orange County, CA; and a grandson, Brian Kemme. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, in 2008; and two sisters, Ruth Moe and Jean Riemersma.
A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Pastor Justin Smith officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the family are appreciated.
