Mildred Anita Mapes' Obituary
Mrs. Mildred Anita Mapes, age 82, died early Sunday morning, May 15, 2005. She was born January 29, 1923 in Weare, MI to Bernard and Edith (Brunk) Alvesteffer, and had lived in the Muskegon area for all of her adult life. Mrs. Mapes was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. On May 24, 1941, she married Loyd D. Mapes in Weare, MI, and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1990. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Richard L. Mapes of Auburn, MI, Sandra (Kenneth) Augustine of Beaverton, MI, Daniel (Jaison Currier) Mapes of Muskegon; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Mapes of Auburn, MI; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Clarence (Jean) Alvesteffer of Auburn, MI, Maurice (Patricia) Alvesteffer of Beaverton, MI, Harold (Jean) Alvesteffer of Grand Rapids, MI, Louis (Betty) Alvesteffer of Pentwater, MI, Allen Alvesteffer of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Teresa Brown, Marjorie Cory both of Auburn, MI; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Mapes in 2002; 2 brothers, Jimmy and Edward; and sister, Dorothy Kelly. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken) with the Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons presiding. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at
