Mrs. Mildred C. "Millie" Hoeksema's Obituary
Mrs. Mildred L. “Millie” Hoeksema, 88, passed away Sunday morning, September 2, 2012. Born December 15, 1923 in Muskegon to Theodore and Minnie (Brace) Musgrave, she married Alvin L. “Al” Maring April 15, 1943, and he died June 24, 1973. She married Marvin J. Hoeksema on January 4, 1975, and he survives her. Other SURVIVORS include her children: Linda VanDyke, Paula (Doug) Hoeker, Alan (Sandy) Maring, Sherri (David) Mulkey, and Larry (Karen), Dave and Muriel Hoeksema; a daughter-in-law Madelyn Hoeksema; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law Andrew VanDonkelaar. She was preceded in death by her husband Al Maring, a daughter Shirley McCarthy, a son James Hoeksema, two brothers and a sister. Millie was currently a member of Unity Reformed Church, and had been active in many different aspects of the women’s organizations within the churches she attended. She was a fulltime mother and homemaker for her four children. She enjoyed sewing and many different kinds of needlework through the years. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Mrs. Hoeksema at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Unity Reformed Church, 1521 Porter Rd., with Rev. Kyle DeYoung officiating and interment in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 12:00 N to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Christian Care Building Fund or Unity Reformed Church Memorial Fund.
