Mildred E. "Millie" Woodward's Obituary
Mrs. Mildred E. “Millie” Woodward, age 87, passed away Monday, March 2, 2009 at Metron of Belding. Millie was born October 3, 1921 in Thompsonville, MI to Joseph and Ethel (Flasher) Nichols and moved to the Muskegon area as a young girl. She was a long-time member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was involved with the music department of the church. She was also a frequent guest soloist at many Muskegon area churches throughout her life. At about 50 years of age, she became an avid bowler attending many out-of-town tournaments and making many new friends along the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence H. “Bud” Woodward; her parents; 2 brothers, Carroll and Harold Nichols; and 1 sister, Louise Strong. SURVIVORS include many nieces and nephews, including 4 special nieces, Elvida (George) LaVasseur, Elizabeth (Jim) Smith, Sue Ann (Craig) Monck, Karla (Erik) Trippe; and 1 special nephew, Skip LaVasseur. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2009 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Edd Wilder officiating. VISITATION will take place one hour prior to the service, 12-1 PM Thursday. INTERMENT will take place at Norton Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
