Mildred J. "Millie" Knopf's Obituary
Mrs. Mildred J. “Millie” (Hradsky) Knopf, age 79, celebrated her homegoing to Heaven on February 3, 2011. Born on August 8, 1931 to Stefan and Catherine Hradsky, raised in Muskegon and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1949. Married to Roger Knopf in 1960, she spent the next 15 years as part of the Air Force family, stationed in England, Japan, and Okinawa as well as Air Force bases in the United States. She was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in the United Methodist Women’s group. She is survived by son, Bradley (Leslie Maeder-Knopf) Knopf and their daughters, Madeleine and Sophia of Ferndale, MI; daughter, Karen Knopf of Norton Shores, and her daughters, Sarah of Kalamazoo and Melissa of Norton Shores; brother, Stephen Hradsky; and sisters, Anne Hradsky and Allesha Thurkettle of Muskegon; special cousins, Bill Kristofetz and Helen Bell; special niece Robin Thomas, and many more special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elizabeth (Hradsky) DeMuro. A memorial service will be held at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, 4861 S. Henry St., at 1PM Saturday, February 5, 2011. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 11:00AM until 1:00PM. Internment will be at Norton Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Millie may be made to Lake Harbor UMC Music Fund, Harbor Hospice, Comfort Keepers, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
